Mushfiqur Rahim has indeed set a remarkable milestone as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to achieve significant records

At Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Bangladesh has struggled with their batting against South Africa in the Test match, resulting in the Proteas taking a 202-run lead in the first innings. In their second innings, Najmul Hossain Shanto's team has lost 3 wickets for just 59 runs. Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim has become the first Bangladeshi to reach the milestone of 6,000 Test runs.

As of Tuesday, before the end of the second day's play, Mushfiq and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (38) are at the crease. With 3 wickets down, Bangladesh's score is 101, still trailing the visitors by 101 runs. Mushfiq remains not out on 31 runs, reaching the 6,000-run mark while scoring 28. He needed just 39 runs before the start of the Mirpur Test to achieve this milestone.

However, he was dismissed for only 11 runs in the first innings, forcing him to wait until the second innings. Mushfiq has played 93 Tests, scoring 6,003 runs at an average of 38.48, including 11 centuries and 27 fifties. So far, 74 players have scored 6,000 or more runs in Test cricket.

Following him is Tamim Iqbal, who is currently out of the national team and has scored 5,134 runs in 70 Tests, with 10 centuries and 31 fifties. Shakib Al Hasan ranks third among Bangladesh's highest run-scorers, with 4,609 runs in 71 Tests, including 5 centuries and 31 fifties, while planning to retire from this format with the ongoing Test.

Mominul Haque has 4,269 runs in 66 Tests, including 13 centuries and 19 fifties, but has struggled in the Mirpur Test, scoring just 4 runs in the first innings and a duck in the second. Former captain Habibul Bashar, now head of women's cricket, scored 3,026 runs in 50 Tests.
